Podgorica (MINA-BUSINESS) - The reconstructed anode factory will enable Montenegro to get its first market commodity and to the aluminium plant Kombinat Aluminijuma Podgorica (KAP) will save around 10 million U.S. dollars a year, Anotech Vektra company said on Thursday. Anotech Vektra, which made the largest investment in Montenegro in the past 15 years, was set up by Vektra, Venco from Houston and CTI from Miami, United States, which leased the plant for a seven year period, after which the anode factory will be returned to KAP. "It is possible that over the period the existing capacity of 50,000 tonnes grows. The anode factory has been modernised and is environmentally safe," Dragan Brkovic, president of Anotech Vektra told a press conference. Speaking of the savings for KAP, Brkovic said that KAP had so far paid at least 560 USD per tonne of anodes and that Anotech would be able to sell the same products at 420 USD per tonne. The total investment in the factory amounted to 25 million USD and Brkovic said he expected the investment to return in the next five years and a profit of 7.5 million USD on top of that.
