Board of strike awaits official confirmation of Government`s decision
Board of strike of the Union of education would present its attitude on today#s decision of the Government as regards the partial fulfilment of requests of employees in education, after they received the official information of the Ministry of education. "The Board cannot decide on the fate of the strike of employees in education as long as it is not officially informed of the Government#s decision, which is why every information is considered unofficial for the time being," said secretary of the Union of education and member of the Board of strike, Zvonko Pavicevic. He said that the Board of strike discussed present activities and concluded that there were no lectures today in 88 elementary and secondary schools where more than 5,000 employees worked, or 60 percents of the total number. Pavicevic said that tomorrow or on Monday, the Ministry of education would officially inform the Board of strike on decisions passed by the Government. The Government has decided today to pay due allowances for lunch to employees in education until the end of this month as well as to assist the General Union of education in establishing of the residential fund. The Government also stated that expert teams should continue their activities in defining of new collective contracts in which education would be valued more, in line with the Law on labour that was being prepared. The Government also identified the minimum of work for workers in education at the time of strike, which includes lectures, exercises, testing, giving marks, exams and participation of teachers in activities of expert organs.
