Bulatovic: The Strike is Legal

Bulatovic: The Strike is Legal
Podgorica, (Montena-business) – The general strike in most Montenegrin Schools started today, as it was announced before, at 7 a.m. by reducing the classes’ duration to 30 minutes. The Educational CITUM’s president, Svetozar Bulatovic today said that the strike would last until the requests of employed in educational sector were fulfilled. The educational workers decided to start the general start because of no respect for the old collective contract, low coefficients of working places and unpaid salaries. According to him, the protest was supported by 80% of CITUM’s organizations and it was organised in harmony with the Laws on Strike and primary and secondary education. The Minister of Education and Science, Predrag Ivanovic said yesterday to the Radio of Montenegro that he expected written decisions by the schools’ CITUM organisations, which couldn’t be sent to the Ministry because of holidays. Bulatovic claims that the Ministry was informed about the strike on time. “The Ministry of Education was properly informed before New Year that the Educational CITUM would organise the general strike, so there is no need that 324 CITUM organisations send individual announcements about their decision on the strike” claims Bulatovic. The Educational CITUM respected the three parts, he said, and on time informed the partners in the collective negotiations, the Ministry of Education and the Montenegrin Government about the activities the CITUM is going to realise. Bulatovic added that the CITUM today sent a request to the Ministry of Education on receiving members of the striking board to meet Minister Ivanovic, in order to together try to find a solution for the problems of the educational workers. af/bd
