Decision on paying owing salaries to seamen

Decision on paying owing salaries to seamen
Commercial Court of Podgorica will set the date of the first appearance in the court when the decision on the way of paying the owing salaries to crew of the ships "Orjen" and "Novi" of the firm "Jugooceanija from Kotor will be reached. "Commercial court of Podgorica should during the day set the date of the first appearance in the court which is most probably to be scheduled for Friday or Monday. After that, future of those ships will be more certain since the court is to reach the decision on the auction sale or finding the other solution intended for paying the owing allowances to seamen", said the vice president of the Trade union of the employed in maritime shipping and transport Tomislav Markolovic. Ships Orjen and Novi were sized on demand of their seamen since they did not draw salaries for six months. The total debt amounts to almost 500 thousand USD. "Crews of these two ships have not still been given their salaries even though we hoped the company would find the way to resolve this problem. Owings increase every day by 30 or 40 thousand USD so now they amount to 250 thousand USD per ship", said Markolovic. He explained earlier that in case the ships were sold their value would be set by the authorized company and after that the Commercial Court of Podgorica should reach the final decision if it considered the price offered acceptable.
