Discrimination is consequence of consciousness

Discrimination is consequence of consciousness
Herceg Novi, (Montena-business)-The main themes at the second day of the working conference about the role of Trade Unions preventing conflicts were experiences of the Union in the struggle against discrimination, its role in development of civil society and development of regional cooperation. Participants of the working group, which exchanged experiences about discrimination, agreed that there were a great number of human rights’ violation examples, especially in ex-YU countries. “Examples of discrimination don’t refer only to the prohibition of doing some business activity, but also to the special employing conditions and to giving advantages to certain group of unemployed persons” it was said at the Conference. As the Conference participants said, discrimination was often indirect and hidden, but it was always a consequence of consciousness. The participants exchanged their personal and Union’s opinions about job losses because of national identification, political reasons or sexual orientation. The working group that was occupied by regional coordination and the Union’s role in the civilian society development focused on making Union connections and exchanging experiences from present work. The participants talked about a large number of conflicts and possibilities to avoid them, and about the Union’s role in preventing conflicts between the Government, employers and employees. The Regional Commission will finish its work today.
