Drljevic: The Central Bank is a Political Institution

Drljevic: The Central Bank is a Political Institution
Podgorica, (Montena-business) – The director of Hipotekarna Banka, Slavko Drljevic accused the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBMN) that it is a political institution that doesn’t work professionally and doesn’t protect the companies’ and citizens’ property. Drljevic said that the CBMN still hadn’t replied the initiative of Hipotekarna Banka about taking over Jugobanka from Kotor, with which the Hipotekarna Banka signed the contract on business cooperation. “CBMN didn’t reply to that initiation, and the Bank didn’t regulate the status of other banks in Montenegro according to the new legal regulations as well. The property of citizens and companies is in these banks, and a passive attitude of this monetary institution shows that the Bank doesn’t do its job well. CBMN is a political institution because it is more involved in policy” claims Drljevic. Drljevic said that Hipotekarna Banka was interested in taking over Jugobanka from Herceg Novi depending on the CBMN’s attitude, but experience with the same bank from Kotor showed that the transaction was very difficult. According to him, Jugobanka from Kotor, which was founded by integration of previous Bokeljska Banka with Jugobanka from Belgrade, was a more interesting bank for taking over than it’s branch in Herceg Novi. Drljevic added that even in Belgrade, until the bankruptcy of 4 big Serbian banks was announced, there was no interest for this kind of cooperation with Hipotekarna Banka. af/bd
