Podgorica (MINA-BUSINESS) - Montenegrin power company Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG), Zeljezara steelworks, Prekookeanska Plovidba shipper and the Coal Mines are the biggest loss-makers in Montenegro and their total debts in 2001 amounted to 54.2 million euros accounting for 40 percent of all company losses in the republic. According to the figures released by the Accounting and Payment Operations Service (ZOP) total losses of the Montenegrin economy stood at 147.6 million euros in 2001, nine percent less than in 2000. EPCG#s loss in 2001 was 21 million euros, one percent more than in 2000. Zeljezara#s loss was 11.5 million euros or 2.3 times more than in 2000. Prekookeanska Plovidba from Bar posted a 90 percent increase in losses which rose to 11.3 million euros. The Pljevlja Coal Mines tripled its loss in the same period to 10.3 million euros.
