Government partly accepted requests of employees in education
The Government of Montenegro decided today to pay the due allowances for lunch to employees in education and to assist the General Union of education in financing of the residential fund, said minister of education and science, Predrag Ivanovic. After conclusion of the session of the Government, he said that all obligations towards employees in education would be fulfilled with payment of lunch allowances. Ivanovic was of the opinion that expert teams should define new collective contracts in which education activities would be valued more, and which would be in line with legal solutions being prepared. "The Government decided that minimum of work in education included lectures, exercises, testing, giving marks, exams and participation of teachers in activities of expert organs," said Ivanovic. He said that the Government of Montenegro expected the schools, that stopped their work illegally, would begin giving lectures in line with the Law on education, teachers# ethics and pupils# right to education. "Workers in education have the right to strike, but that right is restricted with the elementary right of children to education, which is regulated by the Declaration of United Nations and laws of Montenegro," expressed Ivanovic. Montenegrin employees in education, who began their general strike on Janaury 9, requested increase of coefficients for wages, foundation of a residential fund and payment of due allowances.
