Government shall not pay wages to unsuccessful companies

Government shall not pay wages to unsuccessful companies
The Government of Montenegro shall not guarantee the payment of minimal wage of 110 DEM, which was offered to the Union, and shall not continue paying the overdue wages and reimbursements for pensions in the companies that have no money for these purposes. This attitude was stated by vice-president of the Government, Branislav Gvozdenovic and Minister of economy Darko Uskokovic at the meeting with representatives of the Independent unions of economy and major companies. The Government accepted the request of the union that the minimal wage would be 110 DEM, which the secretary of the Union, Budimir Sljivancanin recently stated as incomprehensible. He requested from the Government to state whether it would guarantee 110 DEM wage for those who have not the money to pay that sum. “The Government has no ambitions to reimburse these financial means except where the employer is the Government,” said Gvozdenovic. He said that the Government would only assist in production programs and that part of the budget for the next year would be allotted for the production reform. “This year we would invest the money from foreign donations in production, and from the next year on, our own means from the budget,” said Gvozdenovic. He said that last year about 100 million DEM was allotted for aid to companies, of which sum 20 million was spent for paying-off the pensions and payment of minimal wages. Vice-president of the Union, Radule Djukanovic said that from February next year, the competent ministries together with the unions would discuss the starting of the production, constitution of the boards of directors and solve other problems in the companies. Representatives of the union of economy and great Montenegrin companies stated several proposals that would alleviate their activities in present conditions. They requested reduction of taxes and payments for economy, preparation of companies for privatisation with protection of employees, system of responsibility for the business results and share of the burden of transition between economy and non-economy. Gvozdenovic agreed with proposals stated and announced that passing of the Law on bankruptcy and debt payments till the end of the year would make a part of these proposals.
