Podgorica (MINA-BUSINESS) - Greek company Agroplan, specialised in the milk industry, plans to set
up a joint venture with two Montenegrin dairies. Agroplan, active in engineering, consulting and
turnkey projects, will seek assistance from an investment manager Pytheas from Greece. Pytheas will have
equity in the new joint venture based on its participation in managing the project and for financial
consulting services. Agroplan will have stake as a technical consultant and dairies as their local partners.
Agroplan is specialised in producing pasteurised milk, yoghurt and cheese. The European Agency for
Reconstruction (EAR) approved last week 500,000 euros aid to this company to deliver equipment to
dairies in Ulcinj, Danilovgrad and Niksic. Other bidders for the supply of equipment included firms from
Spain, Germany, France, Italy and Serbia. The Greek company said it would not only focus on the
development of the milk production but also to animal breeding, processing of raw milk, its packaging and
distribution. The Greek company also said that it was vital for Montenegro to kick out of its market so-
called UHT milk, processed at extremely high temperatures, which leaves no nourishing values. They also
said that Montenegrin dairies had to increase the expiry dates on their products from current two days,
because the expiry dates for fresh milk ranged between six and eight days in the rest of Europe.
