Montenegrin Government has adopted project on development of small and medium firms in rural region in scope of which strategy of development of hothouse production of vegetables worth 1,5 million DM will be realized. Director of Agency for development of small and medium firms Zoran Vukcevic has said after the session that tender for acquisition of hothouses has been finished today and the hothouses will soon be distributed to all the interested producers. Realization of this project will contribute reduction of import of agricultural products. Montenegro has to satisfy domestic expenditure of vegetables and it should become exporter", considers Vukcevic. "Government set aside approximately 767 thousand EUR for this project", he said and he adds that this money will be assigned to farmers through bank credit line. Vukcevic explains that the project enables specialization in marketing of production and sale of vegetables. "It means that producers will only be engaged in production and particular specialized team will work on disposal of goods. We shall treat differently goods producers whose products are intended for market and those to whom production is just an additional activity or hobby", claims Vukcevic. According to him, standards for types, size and price of hothouses, as well as for quality of land, have already been defined. Process of hothouses production in Montenegro will be supervised by foreign consultants since countries they are coming from have more experience in this form of production", concludes Vukcevic.
