IMF decides on Monday on a new agreement with Yugoslavia
Washington (MINA-BUSINESS) - The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will decide on Monday on Yugoslavia#s last, fourth tranche of the ongoing stand-by arrangement and the approval of a new loan agreement, Belgrade daily Glas Javnosti said. In the case of a positive decision, the international business and financial community will receive an important message on the current state of affairs and the attractiveness of the domestic economy. The new three-year financial agreement would be equal to 300 percent of Yugoslavia#s quota at the Fund or around 800 million U.S. dollars. The money would be aimed at balance of payment support, strengthening of the foreign currency reserves of the country and to increase its capacity to continue reforms and overhaul the economy. The IMF meeting was initially scheduled for May 10.
