Retail prices were 20.3 percents higher than in the same period last year, and 1.7 percents higher than in December 2001, states the Republic Institution for statistics. According to this information, retail prices went up in January because of the increase of price of services for 6.9 percents, agricultural products for 2.1 percents, beverages for 1.5 percents and industrial products for 0.5 percents. As it has been stated, the increase of prices of services was caused by the rise in prices of municipal services for 14 percents, traffic services for 11.8 percents, handicraft services for 7.3 percents and personal services for 0.2 percents. Prices of agricultural products went up because of increase in prices of fresh vegetables and fruit for 3.8 percents while the price of fish went down for 17 and eggs for 1.1 percents. The Republic Institution for statistics explains the increase of prices of industrial products with higher prices of non-food products for 0.5 percents and industrial-food products for 0.3 percents. The Institute reminds that retail prices last year were 23 percents higher than in the year before.
