Proposal of the expert team of the Ministry of economy for stabilisation of Electric-power industry was not made to increase price of electricity by it, but to present to the Government the strategy of development of that company in the next ten years, said deputy minister of economy Dragan Bojovic.
Answering to the reaction of director of the Aluminium Complex in Podgorica (KAP) Mihailo Banjevic who did not agree with increase in prices of electricity, Bojovic said that the same prices would remain for KAP till the end of the next year.
Expert team just estimated that law prices of electricity were the main reason of the deficit of 351 million DEM that Electric-power industry of Montenegro (EPCG) had in the last five years. Proposal was made in order to present to the Government the plan for improvement of the situation in the company for the next ten days, and that is the only reason, said Bojovic for Montena-business.
He added that it was planned to cancel the subsidies for KAP in 2003 and to increase the price from the present 4.2 pfenigs per kWh to 9.93 pfenigs.
He also said that 30% of consumed electricity is deficient in Montenegro so it is necessary to increase prices, as well as because of foreign investors who are not interested in EPCG because of the present situation.
According to the proposal of the expert team, the price of electricity should be raised from present 4.24 pfenigs to 11 pfenigs per kWh in the next 12 months. Gradual increase of prices for households is proposed as well, so in October next year one kWh of electricity would cost 10.93 pfenigs.
