Kotor (MINA-BUSINESS) - The Daido Metal Kotor bearings factory, majority owned by the Japanese Daido metal company was opened on Monday in the city#s industrial zone. Opening the plant, President Milo Djukanovic said this type of investment was what the Montenegrin economy needed. "We are buying something that is very important for Montenegro, a management know-how which should help us to overcome the crisis swiftly and to join international markets," Djukanovic said. The new plant, which will employ 125 of the 330 workers of the former Kotor bearings factory (ILK), laid off last year after the plant went into receivership, is to produce car bearings for European markets.
