Price of Daily newspapers in Podgorica have been increased by approximately 15% and now they coast 30 cents apart from Publika, which is to be sold at new price from Sunday.
Price of Montenegrin newspapers for Serbian market have been increased from 15 to 20 dianrs.
Director of #Vijesti# Slavoljub Scekic said that the price had been increased due to rounding up of prices of newspaper material and due to lack of coins of 1 and 2 cents in shops all over Podgorica.
"Price of printing paper and transport services have been increased due to rounding up and it caused increase of expenses. We have agreed through internal consultations with representatives of other daily newspapers to increase the prices after expiration of double currency system", said Scekic.
He estimated that increase would not influence standard of readers since in case the price had not been changed sellers would have sold them newspapers at 30 cents due to lack of coins.
"Lack of coins is obvious. If the price was 26 cents the difference would be kept be sellers. Vijest were sold at price of 0,5 DM during three months of double currency system and it is less then 26 cents, which was their real price. Even if the other daily newspapers have not increased their prices Vijesti would have to do it", said Scekc.
He said that representatives of daily newspapers had no official meeting but that the increase of price was agreed in internal meetings during last week.
Director of DAN Dusko Jovanovic said that increasing of price was necessary since not even with this price they could cover expenses of preparation and printing of newspapers.
"Converting to Euro automatically caused rounding up and it resulted the increase of prices. Even this price is low since it is absurd bus ticket to be higher then the price of daily newspapers", said Jovanovic.
