Luxembourg aids potato producers in Montenegro
The Government of Luxembourg plans to establish the association of potato producers in Montenegro within project for return of Montenegrin citizens who are temporarily employed in this state. Carlo Carli, technical advisor of Agricultural Organization of United Nations, said that the Government of Luxembourg provided about 600,000 USD for purchase of different machines, pesticides, tools and fertilizers for this sort of production. "We are planning to provide in the north of Montenegro the return of people from Montenegro who work in Luxembourg, by organizing employment for them in associations for production of seed-potato," said Carli. On the north of Montenegro, the plan is to finish at the beginning of the next month the collection of 300 tons of potato of the total of 60 tons of seed-potato that Luxembourg Government provided for planting. The potato is planted in lanes in private property of seven farmers on the north of Montenegro. "From these farmers, 30% of collected potato would be given to those who return from Luxembourg together with adequate instructions because potato production requests fulfilment of some world standards," explained Carli. The project of planting seed-potato of the best sort is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of agriculture and Boitachnical Institute. "Beside satisfying the needs on the territory of the Republic, the potato should also be imported in a later period, but beside good quality, it must leave good visual impression," said Carli.
