Managers warn that the strike could close the factory
Niksic (MINA-BUSINESS) - The management of the Trebjesa brewery in Niksic said on Thursday that demands by trade union for a wage increase were unrealistic and that an acceptance of the demands would jeopardize the existence of the factory. In a letter to workers, the management said there had been no realistic grounds for them to launch a general strike on May 20. "It becomes clear that the whole thing had been planned by certain groups of people whose primary aim is to destabilise the brewery and its management, at expense of the workers," the letter said. The average April salary at the brewery stood at 395 euros and was among the highest in both Serbia and Montenegro. "In the case of a general strike, there will be no work, no sale, no wages and a 13th salary and a bonus will be lost, as well as the dividend. Current wages could fall because of reduced sale. In the worst case scenario, the brewery could be closed," the management said in the letter to workers.
