Milk Importers Expect Increased Price and Lack of Milk
Podgorica, (Montena-business)- The implementation of the Government’s regulation on quantity limits for milk import will raise the prices of milk and create a lack of this product at the Montenegrin market. According to one owner of a MEX shop, Dejan Brnovic who imports milk as well, the Government’s regulation will increase the price of pasteurized milk, whose price, as he claims, probably will be higher than the price of milk packed as Tetrapak. “Permanent fulfilment of milk factories’ requests will create a higher price of pasteurized milk, even though it is usual that it’s price is lower than the price of milk packed as Tetrapak” claims Brnovic. Brnovic thinks that the milk companies in Niksic and Podgorica provoked the regulation because, as he said, they always have some new requests. “First, the companies demanded premiums, then free price forming, and after all fulfilled requests, they asked for import limitations” said Brnovic. The Simplon-Trade Company, which distributes milk products, give predictions that implementation of the Government’s regulation will influence on the increase of milk price and probably it will produce a lack of milk, especially of the milk produced by the PKB Company from Belgrade.
