Podgorica (MINA-BUSINESS) - Around 57 percent of all Montenegrin enterprises finished last year with a loss, the Accounting and Payment Operations Office of the Central Bank of Montenegro said. Of around 7,000 enterprises which submitted their final financial statements for 2001, around 4,000 had a negative result. Their total loss was 147.7 million euros or seven percent les than in 2000. Profit-making enterprises posted a total 81.8 million euro profit or 82 percent more than in 2000. Loss-making companies were employing around 51,000 workers or 58.1 percent of all the workers in the manufacturing industries. Trade, agriculture, fishing, water supply, transportation and communications, and financial services were among profit-making sectors. Tourism, catering, civil engineering, industry and mining, forestry and crafts were among loss-making sectors.
