Economic situation is still the most important issue for Montenegrin voters, and unemployment is stated as the most important problem. This is the result of the public opinion survey done by National Democratic Institute for international activities (NDI).
The analysis done from September 13 to 18, and where 1,289 people were polled, shows adequate degree of knowledge on MVP and campaign against black economy. However, more than 50% of pollees are of the opinion that all initiatives of the new Government would remain without results.
As it was stated, economic issues are most important for 50% of voters, which is 9% more than in the previous survey done in June. Unemployment is the greatest problem for 26% of pollees and anti-corruption laws are of the greatest priority for 30% of pollees, and for 28 % the privatisation.
Banks are institutions that are not to be trusted for 70% of pollees and banking reforms have the lowest priority when introduction of market driven economy is concerned.
After unemployment, the most important economic issue for Montenegrin citizens is trade with other states, privatisation is on the third place and then follow wages and pensions, development of companies, corruption and banks. Agriculture was in the last place.
NDI has, beside this one, organized three more surveys of public opinion, in March, April and June this year. Citizens from 21 of Montenegrin municipalities have been included in the latest survey.
The survey was realized by the Agency for public opinion surveys, Prizma and financial support was provided by USAID.
NDI emphasized that the report should be taken as estimation of Montenegrin public at the moment, and not as indicator of results of any of the elections in the future.
