Budva (MINA-BUSINESS) - Montenegrin women face numerous obstacles in attempting to start up their own business but the key obstacle is that only one percent of real estate is owned by women, Biljana Vujosevic, the organiser of the round table titled Towards Equality said on Saturday. "Banks hardly approve business loans to anyone who does not own property," Vujosevic said. Still, in the past five-six years, the number of women who started their own business rose by 50 percent. "The economy slowly but safely changes the status of women in the society and it will indirectly change her position in the politics," Vujosevic said. The round table, organised by the League of Women Voters and the delegation of the European Commission, was also attended by representatives of associations for the protection of women#s rights from Belgrade and Zagreb.
