Podgorica (MINA-BUSINESS) – Banks set up in Montenegro will have to increase their founding capital to 5.0 million euros by the end of 2004, according to proposed amendments to the Law on Banks, which the parliament is due to discuss during its session that starts on Tuesday. The phased capital increase allows banks to increase their capital by the end of this year from 2.5 to 3.0 million euros, in 2003 to four million euros and by the end of 2004 to five million euros. Any bank shareholder who wants to own more than 13 percent of the bank#s capital would require an approval by the Central Bank of Montenegro.
