Parliament to discuss taxation on motor vehicles

Parliament to discuss taxation on motor vehicles
Podgorica (MINA-BUSINESS) – Montenegrin parliament will discuss a new law on taxation on motor vehicles, vessels and aircraft, the implementation of which is expected to increase budget revenue by 5.5 million euros. The government proposed late in February that passenger car owners pay the tax during the car registration. Tax rates will progress depending on the engine volume of the vehicle. Exempted from the tax will be companies, state and public enterprises. The tax will not be charged on fire extinguishing vehicles, ambulance cars and vehicles belonging to international organisations. Invalids with more than 50 percent of corporal damage will also be exempt from taxation. The government said there were 118,000 passenger cars in Montenegro. Tax income will be spent on the construction of roads and social benefits.
