“Podgoricka banka” would, in three months at the latest, enable the use of Visa cards in Montenegro, said the head of the competent service Dusica Paunovic. Paunovic confirmed for Montena-business that cooperation with the company Visa International was restored after removal of sanctions of the USA against FRY. “Podgoricka banka” should fulfil conditions requested that Visa International requests from it, and they relate to on-line system, which is safer,” added Paunovic. She also said that business Visa Cards would be introduced first for legal subjects with the use of banking account in foreign currency. There is also the possibility of introducing the Classic and Gold cards for individuals, but they would be less attractive for our market because of the deposit that Visa International insists on. “Negotiations of “Podgoricka banka” with Society General Bank on conditions of business card use are underway. For the time being, we can say that they would be more favourable than for Master cards,” adds Paunovic. The only bank that issues credit cards is Atlas bank, which offers common and gold Visa and Master cards for individuals only. The use of cards is enabled to individuals who deposit 5,000 DEM for the common and 10,000 DEM for the gold card on their giro account. Deposit cannot be spent, no interest rate is given on it and it is returned to the user when he cancels the card, states the competent service of Atlas bank.
