Drivers of taxi vans from Bar shall organize a protest tomorrow at noon because of the announcement of cancellation of this sort of taxi services, and they invite their colleagues from other Montenegrin municipalities to joint them. They claim that about 50 van taxis in Bar and about 350 of their colleagues in Montenegro are legal drivers of passengers, since they pay taxes and other duties in line with the law. "We have nothing against introduction of order in public transport of passengers and control of suitability and safety or vehicles and quality of services, but we think that it is unallowable to favour private bus companies," says Branimir Spahic, the taxi driver. He is of the opinion that van drivers offer good-quality services to passengers in local traffic and in long-distance traffic, and adds that big transport companies had no opportunity to renew their motor pools. Spahic said that thanks to van taxis, Bar was connected with Sutomore, Canj, Ulcinj, Petrovac and Budva 24 hours a day, and if necessary, with Herceg Novi as well.
