Raicevic: Import of Milk is Not Prohibited but Limited
Podgorica, (Montena-business) – Import of milk and pork meat in Montenegro is not prohibited by yesterday’s Government decision, but the quantities that companies will be allowed to buy during a year are limited, the Minister of Trade, Ivan Raicevic said to Montena-business. Milk and pork meat are put on the regime of contingent. It means that import of these products will be possible only with permission of the Ministry of Trade given according to the opinion of the Ministry of Agriculture. The Secretary for Information yesterday announced that milk and pork meat were “taken off from the regime of contingent” because of registered surpluses of domestic products and because it was possible to sell the products only at the Montenegrin market, which caused misunderstanding among citizens. Raicevic said that the Government had decided about this measurement in order to protect the small producers of milk that appeared at Montenegrin market during the last years. “The buyers don’t have reasons to be afraid of lack of milk and pork meat, because import contingents will be determined according to annual consumption, and their use will be selective” said Raicevic.
