Railways - turnover - passengers

Railways - turnover - passengers
February turnover of goods through the railways three percents higher Railways of Montenegro transported 59,600 tons of various goods in February, which is about three percents higher than in January. Deputy director of the transport sector, Milovan Jankovic, said that the company mainly transported bauxite and alkali for the Aluminium Complex in Podgorica, as well as masut for the mill "Muharem Asovic" in Spuz. "The Railways also transported 116,000 passengers, which is not significantly different from the turnover in the same month in previous years. The number of passengers in February is always lower than in January, since the former has smaller number of days," said Jankovic. He also said that Railways expect reduction of turnover of goods and services in March due to general strike of their colleagues in Serbia that began yesterday. "It is still early for estimations of reduction in turnover, but it is quite certain that it would depend on duration of the protest and psychological effect of the strike that would affect passengers and companies even after its ending," said Jankovic. Only business trains would regularly work during the strike of Serbian railway workers, while cargo, local and fast trains transport the goods and passengers only to Bijelo Polje.
