Restrictions Reduced Production by 40% in the Electrode Factory

Restrictions Reduced Production by 40% in the Electrode Factory
Podgorica, (Montena-business)- The Electrodes Factory ‘Piva’, which is the only producer of this material in Montenegro, as a cause of restrictions reduced its production by 40%, it was reported to Montena-business by this company. According to the director, Nedjeljko Jovovic, the factory daily produces 10 tons of the material, but the restrictions caused a reduction to 6 tons. Jovovic couldn’t tell the exact amount of loss in the company caused by present problems, but he claimed that it was probably about several thousand DEM. “Every stop in supplying causes stop on the press and creates a big loss of powder materials that are used in the production, which is significantly less in normal working conditions” said Jovovic. Jovovic added that the biggest buyers of the products were the companies in Serbia and the Shipyard ‘Bijela’. The Association of Black and Coloured Metallurgy, Energetic, Metal-manufacturing Industry and Machinery recently reported that this company had realised a loss of DEM 694,000 for the first half of the year. The factory was producing much less than it was planned for the first 6 months of this year, and it produced about 1 million kg of electrodes from January to September, which is 25% less than in the same period last year. Reduced production of all kinds of products was caused by non-liquidity of the company, the company’s market reduction, disloyal competition that was made by import liberalisation, unemployment of capacities and significant sales reduction to the markets in Serbia and Republika Srpska.
