Return of dinar would endanger Montenegro
Members of the Board of directors of the European Bank for reconstruction stated that results realized so far and plans for further reform of the banking system, and process of conversion of German mark to Euro were good, published the daily "Vijesti". "Representatives of the EBRD were informed of monetary aspects of relations with Serbia and estimation of the Central Bank as regards that problem, since they expressed their interest in these issues. President of the Council of the Central Bank, Ljubisa Krgovic pointed out the impossibility of return of dinar, which would mean neglecting of the achieved level of economic and monetary reforms, as well as interests of Montenegro as an open economy that established its development on tourism and development of small business. Possible solutions of relations with Serbia in case of use of different currencies were presented for the purpose of providing the flow of goods, capital and money," stated the Central Bank of Montenegro. "Concrete projects in the field of restructuring and privatisation of companies, tourism and financial services were proposed. It was also stated that EBRD was very interested in cooperation and participation in these projects on the basis of already known models of financing. Realization of a number of projects can be expected in the forthcoming period, which is a significant support to reforms and a clear signal for possible strategic investors for investing into Montenegro".
