Ships `Novi` and `Orjen` await the court sale

Ships `Novi` and `Orjen` await the court sale
Ships #Novi# and #Orjen# would very probably be sold by a court decision because #Jugooceanija# from Kotor cannot pay to their crew about 400,000 USD for due wages, states the Independent union of workers of naval shipping and transport. Vice-president of the Union, Tomislav Markulovic, said that the Union had arrested the ship #Novi#, which had been in the Shipyard Bijela, on request of the crew and announced that the same could happen with #Orjen# next week. Markulovic said that the General Union expected #Jugooceanija# to clear its debt, adding that if that did not happen the ships would be sold by court order. "We are still hoping that #Jugooceanija# would find money for clearing its debt to its employees, although no convincing announcements have been made so far. At the moment, the ships are nearer the sale through court, and it is quite possible," said Markulovic. He said that the Business Court in Podgorica should soon schedule the date of summons for the sale of #Novi#. "The total amount of debt for due wages to the crews of these two ships is constantly increasing for the amount of daily payments," said Markulovic and added that their value would be estimated by independent authorized companies. "After estimation, the Business Court would discuss the offered price, and if it were positive, the ships would be sold," explained Markulovic. Markulovic could not state whether the sale of ships was the best solution for the crew and employees in #Jugooceanija# but he said that practically, there was no other solution for clearing of their debts.
