Podgorica, (Montena-business) - As from April 1, the software for showing prices in DEM and in Euro, which was installed in 96% of cash registers in Montenegro, will enable showing the receipts only in European currency - Euro.
According to Mr. Mileta Adzic, director of the Digitron East Company from Belgrade that is Sharp#s distributor for Yugoslavia, all other brands of cash registers cannot switch to dual showing, so their owners have to calculate the prices in showed in DEM by themselves.
"When Montenegrin Government passed the Regulation on Showing Dual Prices, we delivered the appropriate software to Directorate for Public Incomes, and its authorised service began its installation. After the software was installed, the owners were to insert their codes, which enabled showing receipts in both currencies, which is a very simple procedure that would also be used for showing receipts in Euro only," said Mr. Adzic.
He said that Digitron East, as Sharp#s distributor, paid 29,000 DEM for this software, even though it should have been for free.
"After the cash registers were delivered, the representatives of Sharp from Japan requested prompt information from Directorate for Public Incomes about the time they would need the software, in order to deliver it for free. Since at that time it was still not known when showing of dual prices would start in Montenegro, the Directorate for Public Incomes could not state when the software would be needed. That is why the software had to be paid after all," said Mr. Adzic.
