Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to President of the Chamber of Commerce (PKCG) Nina Drakic, there is significant potential for closer economic cooperation between Montenegro and the United States (US).

The first business forum was held in New York on the opening day of a working visit by a delegation of Montenegrin business representatives to the United States, organized in cooperation with the American-Balkan Chamber of Commerce.

“Trade between Montenegro and the United States is currently relatively modest, accounting for around 1.2 percent of Montenegro’s total foreign trade. However, what is particularly important is its quality and structure,” Drakic said.

She added that American products entering the Montenegrin market are predominantly from high-technology sectors, medical and precision equipment, energy, and electrical systems, highlighting the importance of American expertise, innovation, and industry for Montenegro’s economy. 

“On the other hand, Montenegro exports beverages and products from the specialized manufacturing sector to the United States, but we believe there is much greater scope for export diversification and a stronger presence of Montenegrin companies in the US market,” Drakic stated.

During the business forum, US business representatives stated that they view Montenegro as a country offering attractive investment opportunities. Discussions focused on the most effective ways to present ready-to-launch projects and projects under development that could be suitable for potential investment.
