Agency for telecommunications (AT) has issued today the working licences for telecommunication operators of mobile and fixed telephony, telephone booths and radio-diffuse frequencies, estimating that these licences would disable monopolization of Montenegrin market.
Telekom of Montenegro received the licence on 25 years; operators of mobile telephony - ProMonte and Monet on 15, and Telephone Booths of the Post of Montenegro and Montecard on two years. Users of radio-diffuse frequencies - Montepano, radio FreeMontenegro, Trojka, Informative centre Pljevlja and TV Budva received licences on 5 years.
Issuing of licences is regulated by the Law on telecommunications, which was passed in December 2000. The Law entered into force in January 4, 2002.
Zoran Sekulic, director of Agency for Telecomunications, said that the Law on telecommunications regulated relations between operators, issuance of licences and control of their activities, and added that it was in line with EU laws.
"According to the Law on telecommunications, licences can be expanded after they expire," said Sekulic, adding that users that were not given these licences today would soon receive them.
