The Striking Board of the Trade Union of Education denied today the possibility of stopping the general strike of workers in education if their wages were raised for 25 percents.
"The break of strike of workers in education is possible only if Ministry of education fulfils their request for increase of coefficients," said spokesman of the Striking Board, Milorad Pejovic, for Mina-business.
He said that the statement of the president of the general union, Svetozar Bulatovic, published by the agency Beta was misinterpreted, and explained that the Bulatovic mentioned the termination of the strike only after the raise in coefficients.
Beta agency announced that the Union would request normalization of working activities from employees in schools only if their wages were one-fourth higher than last year, that is, if they maintained the level from the first three months of this year, when they were given the difference in wages caused by increase of the minimal wage from 80 to 90 DEM.
General strike of majority of Montenegrin workers in education began on January 9, and the Government has so far paid due allowances for lunch and transport and has agreed to participate in the future residential fund.
After full stoppage of work at some schools, employees in education began their activities with classes shortened to 25 minutes and set up the deadline for the Government to raise the coefficients till the end of March. The union claims that the education activities would be stopped completely if the Government did not fulfil the request of strikers until then.
The Ministry of education announced that it would state concrete proposals for increase of coefficients to workers in education till the end of this week.
