Podgorica (MINA-BUSINESS) - Auditors and experts of the British mobile phone operator Vodafone have started checking financial books of the Montenegrin operator ProMonte, Mina-business has learnt from its sources. The Podgorica daily Vijesti said that the British Vodafone, one of the world leading mobile telephony operators, was in talks with ProMonte on acquiring a controlling stake in the company. Vodafone public relations manager Funke Madariola, told Mina-business that the management of the British company would not comment "market speculations and rumours". She said Vodafone would make its intention of buying the majority stake in ProMonte public once it decides for it. ProMonte also declined to comment the report. Vodafone owns shares in mobile operators in 28 countries worldwide.
