Vujovic: More effort than result in privatization

Vujovic: More effort than result in privatization
"Results that could be seen so far in privatization are not equal to the efforts made in that process, and better foreign interest and foreign capital has been expected, too," said Branko Vujovic, director of the Agency for restructuring of the economy at the two-day international union conference that began today in Igalo. He said that each tender was announced with agreement and knowledge of Boards of directors and management of the companies. The subject of the conference is the role of the union in privatization process in Montenegro - abilities and challenges, and the organizer is the International Union Centre, office of ACILS in Podgorica and Association of independent unions of Montenegro. President of Montenegrin union Danilo Popovic emphasized that all transitional reforms and thus the privatization in Montenegro, could not have support of the Union if they did not have social program agreed with it, and if the whole process was not developed on the principles of partnership. "The Union cannot accept that, nor our citizens can live on the income of 2 dollars a day," said Popovic adding that there was also no life in conditions of any economic ultra-liberalism. He emphasized that the responsibility for present bad results in privatization was also on Boards of directors that satisfied their engagement only on sporadic meetings and in management structures that acted as owners who provided only for their personal interest. Numerous experts of the neghbouring countries and experts from Czech Republic, Slovakia and international organizations participate in the work of this conference. The conference was opened by Laurence Clement, head of the office of ACILS, pointing out that Montenegro, which was the last to realize the process of privatization, should avoid bad examples from the states that had already ended their privatization.
