EU Projects for Montenegro’s sustainable blue economy

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro (PKCG), a large number of projects contributing to the development of the blue economy are currently being implemented in Montenegro, and there is a need to create opportunities for new initiatives that will support the sustainable development of the Adriatic and enhance the competitiveness of the Montenegrin economy.

Speaking at an event hosted by the Chamber, PKCG’s Director of the Projects Department Tanja Radusinovic said that Montenegro is currently implementing numerous projects funded through European Union programmes, including Interreg programmes such as EURO-MED, ADRION, South Adriatic, Horizon Europe, Erasmus+ and Digital Europe, as well as other initiatives that contribute to the development of the blue economy.

“This event, titled ‘Sea of Opportunities – EU Projects for Montenegro’s Sustainable Blue Economy,’ is aimed at strengthening our strategy regarding ‘blue projects’ funded by the European Union,” Radusinovic said.

Representatives of institutions, organizations, research centres, universities, companies and decision-makers involved in blue economy projects presented their achievements, exchanged experiences and explored opportunities for new initiatives and partnerships.

“The blue economy is one of the European Union’s most important development priorities and encompasses a broad range of sectors – from the sustainable management of marine resources, aquaculture and fisheries, to maritime transport, coastal tourism, the protection of marine ecosystems, renewable energy sources and digital solutions for marine management,” the Chamber said in a press release.
