Ministry of agriculture supports increase of customs duties for milk import
Ministry of agriculture stated that it would support the requests for increasing of customs duties for the import of milk, but in amount that is established in neighbouring states. Lidija Rmus, councillor of the minister of agriculture, said that the Ministry of agriculture would support the requests of the associations of milk producers and propose to the government the program of protection for their products. "Requests of the associations are justified and we shall propose to the government the increasing of the customs duties on import in proportion similar to that in neighbouring states - Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia," said Rmus for "Montena business". She explained that in Bosnia the customs duty for sour dairy products was about 30 pfenigs per litre, and in Montenegro about 15 pfenigs, and added that the customs duties for pasteurised milk was not introduced because last year it was not competitive at the market. "Last year the price of daily milk was 38 pfenigs per litre, so the imported pasteurised milk did not represent a competition. Now the daily milk costs 60 pfenigs and citizens prefer to buy long lasting dairy products," explained Rmus. She emphasized as positive the fact that the market was supplied with sufficient quantities of milk.
