Vukovic: Government committed to regulating games of chance sector

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Minister of Finance Novica Vukovic believes that the adoption of the new Law on Games of Chance sends a strong message that Montenegro has both the strength and determination to regulate this sector.

For the first time in over 20 years, Montenegro has passed a new Law on Games of Chance. This is more than just a new piece of legislation – it is a clear sign that the state is committed to regulating this sector,” Vukovic said in his statement following the law’s adoption.

According to him, public policies are being shaped transparently, in the interest of citizens, the economy, and the state, with a focus on health and the well-being of all, particularly young people.

“Most importantly, this law protects public health. We are limiting access to gambling for the most vulnerable, tackling addiction, and addressing harmful social consequences. Institutions are finally getting the tools they need to act preventively and responsibly,” Vukovic stated.

He added that the law aims to create a safe and reputable environment, free from financial crime, and ready for sustainable and responsible development.
