Podgorica, (MINA) – Deputy Prime Minister Budimir Aleksic said that Prime Minister Milojko Spajic accepted his proposal to resolve the issue of compensating the families of the victims of Lora military prison camp in Split using the same principle applied to victims of the NATO bombing in Murino.
He responded on Thursday in the Parliament to a question from New Serbian Democracy MP Dejan Djurovic who asked about the status of the initiative to compensate the victims of the Lora camp and the model according to which that compensation would be provided.
Aleksic said that Montenegro, as a country aspiring to become part of a developed democratic world, must find a way and have the strength to address, what he described as the injustice through a special legal act and a permanent solution.
“I believe, and that’s what I proposed to the Government, that this issue must be resolved according to the same principle and in the same amount that was applied when compensating the victims in Murino, who were killed by NATO bombs in 1999”, said Aleksic.
Aleksic said that his proposal received the support of Prime Minister Milojko Spajic.
According to him, intensive efforts are underway to find a suitable solution, and concrete steps could follow soon.
