Podgorica, (MINA) – The European Commission (EC) has announced that it is monitoring the situation at the border between Montenegro and Serbia and urged for a return to normal procedures in order to prevent further disturbances.
As Vijesti was told from Brussels, the EC noted the decision of the Montenegrin authorities to ban a group of Serbian citizens from entering the country on Wednesday.
“We have noted the decision of the Montenegrin border authorities to deny entry to certain persons from Serbia due to security reasons, in accordance with national legislation. We monitor the situation at the border with Serbia and urge for a return to normal procedures in order to prevent further disturbances”, the EC wrote in a reply to Vijesti’s request.
The EC stated that, at a time when the EU Summit-Western Balkans emphasizes the importance of regional cooperation and good neighborly relations, mutual respect and dialogue are necessary.
