Podgorica, (MINA) – The individuals returned to Belgrade from Tivat Airport are not criminals but activists, said President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, adding that it wasn’t him who organized the flight, but someone of his associates.

 

A group of 87 Serbian citizens was returned from Tivat to Belgrade on Wednesday after, according to the Montenegrin police, it was assessed that they represented a security risk ahead of the EU-Western Balkans Summit.

 

Addressing the journalists in Tivat, Vucic said that he would not have thought of organizing something like that.

 

“If I had, today I would have apologized to the hosts for the stupidity of one of my associates. Those people did not have any weapons with them, if they had they would have been arrested, but they were not. They came here to provide a better setting for me, although I did not need it, because I am used to challenging settings”, said Vucic.

 

He said that the group carried banners and that “this speaks of bad hospitality”, portal RTCG reports.

 

Vucic remarked that these individuals have not committed any criminal offense and that they were illegally denied entry.

 

“A narrative has been created that Serbia wants to create problems for little Montenegro and annex it by force”, added Vucic.

 

Vucic said that he does not support reciprocal measures and asked the Serbian state authorities to stop with such practices.

 

When asked if he felt safe in Montenegro, regarding alleged Radoje Zvicer’s death threats, he said that it was in the Sky app records that his murder had been planned earlier.

 

“It’s not anything new. When there are unnecessary political tensions between Podgorica and Belgrade, each side will say the other is to blame. We all have to be more rational, more careful, but when the accusations start, there is no end to it. And criminals will certainly do their job and it’s the same in every country”, Vucic concluded.
