Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic, construction of the second section of the Bar–Boljare motorway is an investment in the balanced development of Montenegro, new jobs, and the economic future of the northern region.

“It is an investment in equal opportunities, in a country that doesn’t forget any part of its territory. This is not a motorway to Belgrade or to Podgorica, it is a motorway for the development of all of Montenegro,” Milatovic said, welcoming the today signing of the financing agreement for the second section of the motorway, from Matesevo to Andrijevica, scheduled for today.

He especially welcomed the decision of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Commission (EC) to support this project, adding that the partnership is not merely technical but marks a political message of trust.

According to Milatovic, the second motorway section is not just a new road, but a sign that Montenegro knows the direction in which it wants to move.

“The approval of the EBRD loan and the EU grant confirms what we always say: that Montenegro has the capacity to build with the support of the most serious European partners, and under the most favourable terms,” said Milatovic.
