Podgorica, (MINA) – The Meshihat of the Islamic Community in Montenegro reported to the police numerous death threats, serious insults and expressions of hatred, directed at Reis Rifat Fejzic on social networks in the past few days.

The Meshihat of the Islamic Community stated in a press release that, bearing in mind the heated atmosphere of lynching, xenophobia and Islamophobia, spreading through the public space, the Islamic Community is concerned, considering the threats to be real and serious.

They stated that they expect an appropriate response from the competent authorities in identifying and prosecuting those responsible and undertaking preventive measures.

“We unequivocally condemn all acts of violence, and wish for the injured young man a speedy recovery. We also call on responsible social actors to make additional efforts so that individual guilt does not become a legitimate reason for stigmatizing an entire nation or religion”, the press release says.
