Kos announces official visit to Montenegro in February

 

Podgorica, (MINA) - Montenegro can count on continuous and intensive dialogue and support from the EU and its member states in implementing reforms and speeding up the process of closing negotiation chapters, it was announced at the meeting between Prime Minister Milojko Spajic and EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos in Davos.

According to the press release from Spajic’s office, during the talks, Kos announced an official visit to Montenegro in February.

The press release said that the meeting expressed mutual satisfaction with the pace of reforms in Montenegro and the implementation of measures and projects under the Growth Plan, and also announced the continuation of closing the negotiation chapters next week.

Spajic’s Office recalled that Chapter 32 – Financial Supervision, which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Finance, will be closed.

According to the press release, Spajic and Kos agreed that this year, the full commitment of both Montenegro and the EU is important in order to complete the negotiation process as planned, that is, by the end of the year.

According to Spajic, the Montenegrin negotiating teams are working diligently on each of the remaining 21 chapters to be closed, and the extraordinary sessions of the parliament will follow that line.

“There is a special focus on chapters 23 and 24, where, among other things, continuous work is being done to complete the appointment process in the judiciary”, the interlocutors agreed.

Spajic and Kos pointed out the importance of highlighting the EU’s clear political signal towards the region, in order for the enlargement process to remain credible and measurable, the press release adds.
