Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro wants a strategic partnership with the United States and sincere cooperation based on deep historical ties, said Parliament Speaker Andrija Mandic during a meeting with chargé d’affaires of the US Embassy in Podgorica Michael Keays.

Mandic remarked that the current administration in Washington, led by President Donald Trump, is reshaping the current bureaucratic status quo and prioritizing concrete cooperation that brings results.

He said that he wants to, as a politician responsible for the Serbian people in Montenegro, but also as Speaker of the Parliament representing all citizens, together with his party, contribute to the democratic and stable future of the country.

“We want to build trust and show that the Serbian people are an indispensable factor of stability, reconciliation and a better future for Montenegro”, Mandic said.

Keays said that since his arrival in Montenegro in February this year, he has been working to familiarize himself with the country and strengthen cooperation with all relevant institutions and partners. 

Keays assessed that inter-parliamentary cooperation is extremely important for the relations between the two countries and added that he would personally work on opening new channels of cooperation between the Parliament of Montenegro and the US Congress.
