Monstat: Inflation rate at 3.6 percent

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) - Compared with last year’s corresponding period, the prices of products and services for personal consumption, measured by the consumer price index (CPI), were 3.6 percent higher on average in May.
According to Monstat, the consumer prices saw an average increase of 0.4 percent compared with April.
““The largest contributors to the monthly inflation rate were price increases in the categories of clothing. meat and meat products, fruit and nuts, accommodation services, road passenger transport, vegetables, root vegetables and legumes, housing maintenance, repair and security services, and fish and other seafood,” Monstat said in a press release.
Compared with the same period in 2025, consumer prices were 3.2 percent higher on average in the first five months.
Across the main groups, the monthly increase in prices was recorded for restaurants and accommodation services, clothing and footwear, food and non-alcoholic beverages, recreation, sports and culture, transport, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, and healthcare.
A decline was recorded in the category of social welfare, different goods and services, furnishings and routine maintenance of the house, housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels.
Prices of other products and services have not changed considerably.
