Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Finance Minister Novica Vukovic, in the final stage of its European integration process, Montenegro is focused on strengthening fiscal stability, modernizing public finances, and building strong institutions as key prerequisites for membership in the European Union.
Speaking at the CEF Forum 2026 in Skopje, one of the region’s most important events dedicated to public finance reform and institutional strengthening, and at the annual meeting of the organization’s Governing Board, where North Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski also addressed participants, Vukovic said that European integration is a process of profound institutional transformation, not merely a political objective.
“Europe’s future is not achieved through political declarations, but through institutions that are professional, accountable, and capable of providing citizens with stability, predictability, and development.” Vukovic stated.
He added that Montenegro demonstrates that reforms, fiscal responsibility, and institutional strengthening must go hand in hand.
He added that the Ministry of Finance’s priorities in the final phase of accession to the European Union are further consolidation of public finances, enhanced fiscal sustainability, and stronger institutions ready for full EU membership.
