Podgorica, (MINA) – The Movement for Podgorica will not support the candidacy of Preokret leader Srdjan Peric for the position of Capital City Assembly chair because his candidacy is supported by opposition councilors, it was announced from this political entity.
The Movement for Podgorica said that Peric’s initiative to avoid the introduction of forced administration in the Capital City is politically legitimate, but that they cannot support his candidacy because it is currently supported by councilors from opposition parties.
The Movement for Podgorica pointed out that from the very beginning they maintained the position that the introduction of forced administration in the Capital City was unnecessary and represented a major political burden for the current ruling majority.
“Such a scenario would be essentially an admission that the ruling coalition has failed to deliver on its promises to the citizens, despite the numerous positive results achieved by this city administration in the previous period”, stated the Movement for Podgorica.
According to them, the resignation of Capital City Assembly chair Jelena Borovinic Bojovic was an irresponsible political move that further complicated the functioning of the local parliament, especially after the decision of the councilors of the Democratic People’s Party (DNP) to withdraw from the signed coalition agreement.
“We still believe that a candidate for the Capital City Assembly chair, who would be supported by the councilors of the Europe Now Movement (PES), For the Future of Podgorica and the Democrats, would represent the best and most sustainable solution for overcoming the current political crisis in Podgorica”, said the Movement for Podgorica.
